What's the deal with supermarket eggs?

We're not above a little egg-slinging when it comes to taking an egg-acting look at how eggs are produced, shipped and sold in this country.. and we're raising the issue because we're unhappy with what's available right now in the market, and we're working hard to change it. At least for our customers.
Eggs found in the grocery store, whether organic or conventionally-produced, can be up to weeks old before they find your way to your breakfast table. Not that there's inherently wrong with eating a food product that has its own natural preservation method, and that's carefully cleaned and packed for a safe ride home, it's just that we think we can do eggs better. Not everyone has access to their own private chickens, and we don't take for granted how much we appreciate having eggs just a few hours or days old, compared to what's available in the grocery stores..
It's just that this can be your experience too. With fresher eggs, you'll notice they last longer, they're less 'eggy' tasting, with a lighter, grassier note than supermarket eggs, with brighter yolks and firmer shells. Our eggs come to you no later than a week after harvesting, and they're laid by happier hens, with access to fresh hay, grains and in the summers, outdoor running room and spacious living quarters. This makes for more delicious breakfasts, supporting local and putting your money where your beak is -- if we vote with our dollars, wouldn't you rather get the best possible, farm-fresh experience, that a supermarket just can't deliver on, due to their scale?
We think so too.
